Three centuries ago, as the explorer De Anza surveyed inland Southern California for the Spanish king, he came upon the area known as Rancho Belago and was awestruck by its natural beauty and majestic landscape as he noted in his personal diary, “...as the most beautiful place” he had ever encountered”. Later the area thrived as part of the San Jacinto mission, one of the important missions in Southern California.
Today, Rancho Belago continues to thrive as an upscale locality to some of the County’s most important institutions such as the Riverside County Regional Medical Center, and soon the home of the new UCR Medical School teaching hospital.
